Phuket, like most areas of Thailand, is home to many stray animals in need of care. But visitors who are retuning to Phuket will notice that there are far fewer sad, sickly dogs and cats on the loose than there were a decade ago, thanks in no small part to the tireless work of Soi Dog Foundation in providing medical care for street animals. They sterilisations and adoptions for the island’s strays and they even organised Flight volunteers to bring the Animals safely to their new home abroad.

Having a little personal Interview with Sydney and feel they humanity, love and commitment to the animals. Enjoy !

Soi Dog Foundation was established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, to help the street dogs and cats who had no-one else to care for them. Over 50,000 strays roamed the island, with the numbers growing alarmingly due to a lack of sterilisation programmes to control the population. The Center was created to provide a humane and sustainable solution to managing the stray population and to address their medical needs. Funding then, as it is now, came entirely from individuals who shared, and continue to share, the vision of our founders. If you’re going to visit Phuket, it is definitely worth a visit and give some dogs or cats a cuddle.

Shelter Volunteering at Soi Dog

To become a Volunteer at the Shelter, your work primary will be to socialise and walk the dogs, as well as socialising the cats and puppies. For dogs and cats at the shelter to be adopted into homes, it is essential to teach them to trust people and to teach dogs to walk on a lead.

If you would like to volunteer with the animals at the shelter or if you have questions, please email them directly to get some more informations :

Flight Volunteering at Soi Dog

Such a great opportunity. Can you help an adopted animal get to its new home overseas? For many of the dogs and cats at Soi Dog’s shelter, the only way they can travel to adopters overseas is as a passenger’s extra baggage.

Here’s their E-mail address to get some more informations as well :

Tipp : If you see any Injured Dog or Cat on the Streets who needs help, don’t hesitate to Call Soi Dog. They are available to take care in the Phuket and Bangkok area, as well as for other countries you may travel to – Don’t look away.
